The book Pioneer Jawa 50 - from motorcycle to Mustang
Content
The sixth volume of the series Motorcycles of Považské strojární brings a comprehensive story of the iconic Jawa 50 motorcycle. The book maps the entire development line from the initial motorcycle J-359 through types 550 and 555 to models 05, 20, 21 and the legendary J-23 Mustang. Author Zdeno Metzker Sr. offers information directly from the design office, thereby setting a number of myths and legends straight. Readers will find previously unpublished documentation with signatures of the original creators, views of the production and assembly halls and details about the transfer of production from Prague to Považská Bystrica.
The text deals in detail with technical innovations, unrealized prototypes and export versions with specific electrical equipment. The book reveals the background of licensed production in India and Egypt, technical details of the pairing of crank mechanisms and the secrecy of versions with reduced power. Collectors will appreciate the chronological overview of design changes, wiring diagrams, information on color versions and a practical guide to the gold linking technique. The author's perspective is complemented by observations on arms production and aircraft engines, which ultimately led to the end of motorcycle production at Považské strojírny.
