Currently, they are increasingly used on JAWA and ČZ motorcycles, mainly as a replacement for dynamo-battery sets, ignition and source sets, the basic part of which is an alternator with permanent magnets. These new sets are characterized by the fact that the ignition and source parts are completely independent of each other and the ignition function is therefore not dependent on the presence of a battery. Therefore, some manufacturers allow the possibility of operating these kits without a battery, but at the same time recommend instead of the battery to connect an electrolytic capacitor with a capacity of 22÷47mF (22,000÷47,000uF) to an operating voltage of at least 25V, see e.g. fy VAPE recommendations. The reason is that the output DC voltage from the regulator, after rectification of the alternating voltage of the alternator, especially the single-phase one, has a very high ripple factor and at the same time there is also a wide spectrum of voltage pulses that arise during the operation of the regulator or are induced from the ignition circuit. Therefore, if an accumulator or capacitor of adequate capacity is not connected to the network, this condition will either significantly affect the function of some appliances or may even damage them. ATTENTION: The AEV 0403 capacitor has a different polarity of the connection contacts, just like the accumulator, instead of which it will be connected. It must not be reversed! It can only be operated in a 6V or 12V DC network.
